Xerion Healthcare develop nanoparticles that are used to improve treatment of cancer. The nanoparticles are injected into tumours just prior to standard radiotherapy and act to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment, amplifying the dose of free radicals generated by the X-rays. The nanoparticles are based on titanium dioxide, a common, non-toxic, semiconductor material.
